  1. Mourinho – "the season has been complicated since the beginning for everybody, right"

This alludes to when the dressing room trust was broken by a certain Belgian.

  2. I’m a bit ashamed of myself as a Spurs fan. I just assumed Dier was the typical English footballer who didn’t speak a word of anything else.

  3. Oh my god Eric dier looks like a normal boring English young man, but No he speaks Portugal and out of all people he's playing UCL semi finals and probably final at Wembley's

  4. That's a really clever little way of bonding with a player- to use his second language which few people realise he speaks. Definitely seems a calculated decision.

  5. Most who played Football Manager 10+ years ago would have known this, seeing a random Englishman when scrolling through the Sporting CP squad scouting for wonderkids

  6. Wooow I knew he spoke Portuguese bcs he came from Sporting. I just never guessed it was that good, perfect accent ! He's one of us.

  7. Didnt spurs sign him from sporting? That was unique cause how many young English players play in the top end of Portuguese league

  8. He speaks Portuguese like any native,he live there for lots of years but I know English and Germans who been there much longer and don't speak half, and the accent is perfect

  9. His Portuguese is exactly like a native, that "para todos" that he makes it sound like "pra todes" where he drags the final syllable with a "sss" sound is so Portuguese.

  10. What's up with Mourinho's accent? Is he influenced by the Brazilian dialect? In the "nesta época já foi complicado para todos né?" part he sounds almost entirely Brazilian. My friends from Lisbon sound nothing like that.

  11. We English often beat ourselves up for not speaking other languages but this really does just show you how so much of your language ability is decided on learning as a child.
