  1. I notice that he isnt type of defender who goes for the ball or the legs. He just towering the attacker, get closer to them and make them losing balance without commiting the foul

  2. What makes Virgil special is how beautifully balanced he is moving at speed, to a level which is astronomically rare for such a big man. That allowed him to shift directions and/or kick into top gear more quickly than the attacker could.

    When he came back from his knee injury, he did not have that beautiful balance for the first 12 months. It has been slowly coming back to him, in fact, albeit his top speed is not what it was. He is not utterly unbeatable anymore, but most forwards do not have the slimmest chance to beat him 1v1. The very fastest have a prayer of outracing him, but usually his positioning to too good for a little edge in speed to matter.
