European national leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, etc.) should have playoffs system. (In their respective countries, of course. Not together.)
32 teams, 31 rounds, which means that everyone plays against everyone, in a single turn. The first 12 would qualify for the playoffs. The first 4 would gain time off in the first round of the playoffs since they would already have a guaranteed spot in the quarterfinals. Round-trip games, and the team best placed in the regular season would have the advantage of a draw. The last 4 in the end of the regular season would be relegated.
This would make the competitions more exciting. It is better to compete against Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, M. City, Liverpool, M. United, Juventus, PSG, Ajax, PSV, etc. for two games than for 38 rounds. The biggest teams would still be favorites but the possibility of surprises happening is bigger. This would increase the fans' hope.
The cups (nationals and europeans) would be maintained, of course. I don't think it would be a problem if all competitions had a playoff phase. The more the better! Sports are entertainment – not social justice, or anything like that – and as such, they should all increase the chances of surprises happening.
Only playoffs can save the national leagues competitiveness, because, today, football is kinda boring. Everyone knows which teams will be champions.

Don’t you think football fans have been starved enough as it is without making them wait two days to see this?
We never give up Burnley ❤❤
Could've just not posted this
Dudnt need to see it again
You’re gonna be relegated soon 🔜😭😭😭
Just imagine being official comentator for this club, just imagine how desperate they are.
Целые сутки делали обзор! Это никак не уровень АПЛ!
I don't understand this; why are the Burnley commentators so excited about Chelsea goals!!
