Sneaky as F but it's the responsibility of the ref to call for the free kick to be taken again. Unsportsmanlike, but that bloke's made himself a target and that moment will hang around his neck forever
That's why the 1st defender usually stands real close to the ball. If the kickers asks for 10 yards they then have to wait till the ref gives the ok. If not this can happen and is legal.
From IFAB/FIFA : "A quick free kick is taken with the referee’s permission very quickly after play was stopped. The referee will usually only allow the quick free kick if: ➡ the kick is taken from the correct position ➡ the ball is stationary (not moving) ➡ no player is injured ➡ the referee has not distracted the offending team by, e.g., starting to manage 9.15 m distance from the ball or calling a player for a warning, caution (YC) or sending-off (RC) The whistle is not needed for a quick free kick to be taken."
hahaaa that will teach them for wasting time and all that drama about the wall and nine out of 11 the ball goes high or wide. So sick of the time wasting.

Do you think this goal should be legal?
U dont wait for the whistle before taking the shot? What kind of football do u play 🤡
Legally its a goal, but there was no sportsmanship.
Why would you want to win in this way?
Perfect strike
still an inch perfect shot too
Great goal but please someone fix his haircut
How can you even think its NOT a goal? If you've followed football for a while, then you know this is a perfectly legal goal.

yes the defending team who have fouled shouldn't be given an advantage
Some people acting like illiterate folks even after explaining rules to them😂😂😂
Sportsmanship has always taken the backseat in soccer
ref hadnt blown the whistle, should not have counted
Being legal doesn't mean it wasn't a dirty play.

Over here in the UK a defender almost always stands right in front of the ball till his teams good & ready!
Should never be a goal, shame on the MLS and the referee.

100% legal. The referee has awarded a direct free kick, the offended team are perfectly within their rights to take any advantage.
the yanks just don't understand football, YNWA
