  1. Yup John is not going to the World Cup if we qualify. There’s clearly some problems between him and Gregg behind the scenes.
Mark McKenzie isn’t doing anything with his club yet he gets called in compared to John who is playing regularly and was in the Champions league.
We need John, if we qualify for the World Cup our MLS players are going to struggle against the European teams just because they’re not used to the style European teams play.

  2. John is awesome against good teams that pin us in. I think we want quicker, younger dudes to deal with counterattacks against these countries who we expect to overpower in possession

  3. Ever since that goal Canada scored in qualifying (leading to the 1-1 tie at home) I had a feeling things weren't going to go so well for Brooks… he has the physical presence and experience, but that lapse in concertation really cost the team in that game, he really should have covered that play.

  4. To be honest, I think a big piece of Brooks looking poor for the US was the lack of cover in front of him. Just rewatch the clips when he “messed up” defensively. He’s not as athletic on the turn/recovery, but that doesn’t mean he can’t defend as well as the rest. His long passing is also much better

  5. Either Gregg is stupid or he just straight up lied. Brooks has been playing well. Form is obviously not the reason he was not called up

  6. Brooks has one bad Window

Greg: Never calling him up again.

Lletget, Arriola, etc have bad games the moment they put on USMNT jerseys

    Gregg: They have verticality.

  7. Brooks foot speed or lack thereof is why he can't get minutes in Gregg's 4-3-3 where the Fullbacks, Dest and ARob, are often deep into the attacking zone. If that is what Gregg is calling form, I can buy it.

  8. When at his best with Wolfsburg, Brooks has been playing as a left-sided centerback in a back 3. He has better cover in that type of system. Even so, at times, erratic performances have led to his being benched by Wolfsburg. The US generally don't play in a back 3. World Cup Qualifying is at a critical phase. The US cannot risk additional screwups from Brooks who has already cost the team points.

  9. Im ok with Chris Richards and Miles Robinson starting. The thing is Brooks plays and starts in Champions League games, so obviously he is in form, what is stupid Berhalter talking about not the best for our opponents. What a clown #BerhalterOut

  10. Brooks had a verbal disagreement with Gregg on the sidelines when Lletget wasn't playing with any skill constantly passing the ball back to him instead of moving forward with the ball. Gregg didn't like Brooks making one of his guys look bad. Gregg needs to cut the bs

  11. Herc why isn’t it mentioned that brooks is playing at a significantly higher level, you can be great in mls (zimm) but be at worse just ok in a better league (brooks) but that doesn’t mean zimm is better. You can’t compare two guys together and say one is playing well for his club and one isn’t without taking it in context.

Its like if you have a 16 year old in 10th grade and he’s getting all B’s and another 16 year old that already made it to college and is getting C’s.

  12. Grapefruit Greg is a non-sentient lifeform and a shill for the MLS-SUM-USSF Industrial Complex. The USMNT will never accomplish anything great as long as he is the manager and unless control of the USMNT is taken away from MLS and its greedy owners who are only looking out for themselves.

  13. GGG is gonna have us limp into the WC and I really see a repeat of 2006 coming with this guy as the coach…

  14. Brooks doesnt look good in concacaf games other than the ones played solely in the US. He never has. That plus Robinson and Zimmerman have earned their spots as #1 & #2, Richards has a higher ceiling and can be molded, and then the question becomes are you bringing a guy like brooks to be the #3 or #4 option??

  15. I saw highlights fron this past weekend match between Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig , and Brooks looked to be in good form to me , so I call BS on Berhalter's claims that he is in bad form.

  16. I guarantee he had a falling out with Gregg. Something happened during practice or at a meeting. “Form” is just an excuse he and Gregg are pushing cover up the real reason.

  17. At least you folks call it as you see it. You should have heard the so cal pundits on SIRIS XM Counter Attack praising FC Dallas Pual Ariola trade. It was laughable I almost puked in my truck when I heard it.

  18. It's strange that our best passing Center back (by FAR) is left out. Especially since that's what Greg wants to play out through the back…

  19. Have you seen the chivas and PSV deal ? Look it herc this is a huge step up for Mexicos future and and player devolpment, I’d say the first Mexican players to go to PSV would be Alexis Vega and olivas

  20. Zardes and Arriola were the 2 lowest rated players against Panama. I can't really think of a time Roldan has played well for the US. None of them have played a real match in 2 months and yet they are "in form"?

  21. Nonsense. Put Brooks in MLS right now and see if he's not the best CB in the league. Twellman you're wrong. Play your best players

  22. I don't understand Berhalter leaving out Brooks and Miazga. But worse, why wasn't Pefok called up?? He plays in the CL and has scored 11 goals in 17 league matches for Young Boys. Yet, he keeps on calling lousy players like Roldan, Arriola, Zardes, Lletget etc. Can't McBride and Stewart talk some sense to that guy??

  23. To be honest. Berhalter's team selections is a big enough reason to let him go. I'm getting fed up seeing the same lousy players being called up. And decision like putting most of the A-team on the bench against Panama or going for a tie in Jamaica was nothing short but embarrassing.

  24. When are people going to realize that our problem is berhalter??? He has no clue!! Come on!! Who hired this guy?? Maybe why players aren't picking usmnt to play for!! I sure as hell wouldn't play for him!!

  25. Totally correct he's a solid player just usmnt need have better tactics to make the squad around understand he's game and capable of

  26. This is definitely more than just form. I think GGG and Brooks had a bad falling out/argument as a RESULT of his poor form during qualifiers.
