Theo gave up the shot that went into the net. Yeah he did score, off a shank. Luck is cool but you can’t say his overall performance was a positive. Como ran rampant along both sides of the pitch.
This analysis is more about the second half than the first. This match should not have been close, would not have been close, if the team put as much intensity for a whole match. After they took the lead Como began to dominate possession. They should have scored. This result is more about playing against a team at the bottom of the table because they lack players to finish.
I like the new attitude from Theo and his offensive help but his more important role is DEFENSE. Has to keep that left flank in check. He’s not doing that very well right now. The team overall definitely seems to have a better mentality but they honestly didn’t look at all dominant vs Como. Como pretty much played at their level. This team needs alot of work sadly. I think Juve gonna beat them. Juve looked far better yesterday vs Atalanta.
maybe Pulisic was used too much after his injury but without chukwueze and we needed the win so playing Pulisic is the best idea its a shame that he got injury again the management needs to sign players fast seems injuries is hiting us hard and we need fresh players
It seems like this 4-2-3-1 just doesn’t work so well. Had wondered if a 3-5-2 could be attempted but then not at all clear if Pulisic and Leo could work in such a system. Think they ought to get the 4-4-2 and occasional 4-3-3 working consistently which has brought some success when used.
I feel like the direct style of play just suits the roster better. When they weren't the favourite and could play fast counter football they even did good under Fonseca (vs Real or the derby in Serie A). I also think we don't need a striker who scores a ton (a better scorer than Abraham is needed), but someone physically imposing who can hold the ball and set up our fast wingers and offensive MF, a prime Giroud kind of player. I don't think Rashford, even if played as a striker, is what the team really needs.
Fofana and Reijnders are overworked. So was Pulisic after just coming off injury. There simply isn’t enough depth on the squad to allow it to compete onna consistent level across multiple competitions. 3 injuries against little Como!
If if if this is a hamstring on the same leg as pulisic had the calf. I think we got to question the coach and med staff bc it would seem like the hamstring could have been compensating for a still weaker calf.
I think Reijnders is being deployed a lot differently under Conceicao. Hes much further up the pitch in the build up, allowing Fofana and Bennecer to stay back and help the build up play. And because Bennecer and Fofana aren’t quite firing in the same rhythm there’s less space opening up on the midfield and Reijnders isn’t getting on the ball as much. Granted, he has been scuffing chances he was taking in the final third, but all in all I think we are seeing less of him due to the tactical role he’s being told to fill.
Something that I think would help is if Bennecer started playing that half back position again where he drops in between the two center backs during the build up to create a back three. He did this under Pioli a lot and it opens up a ton of space in the midfield. It pulls the opposition forward, it would allow Reijnders to drop into the spaces left open so he can turn and drive the ball forward. Especially if you push the fullbacks high and wide since it’s going to pull two more opposition players out of the middle. It worked really really well in our title winning season. Pioli made the mistake the next season of starting to invert the fullbacks creating congestion in the midfield. I had no idea why he made that tactical change. It was unnecessary and hurt what previously strengthened us. In the last four years our best build up play came from this half back role in the midfield. I’m just waiting for someone to revitalize it.
I do agree Pulisic was poor in 1st half before picking up an injury. However, there were moments where his teammates could have passed the ball as he was making good runs. I fell like there were many missed pass from players and might need to do a better ball distribution.
Great that Milan came back. Even better that they managed it without Puli.
Tell you what though… I'd sureasshite like to see someone mention that Pulisic is being targeted by defenders. Both times he went out injured this year the defender kicked him from behind right in the calf just above his achilles… just as he planted his foot 🤬 Seriously, it's like looking at the exact same play.
We get Kyle Walker on the right and no one will do that again for fear of getting their head taken off. Also…
Why is Tijji taking all the corners from the left? Pulisic has 3 assists and an olympico goal from corners. Tijji hasn't even gotten a good delivery yet.
We need to call out Jimenez too for his selfishness before the Como goal. He had some chances where if he had passed to a free player, things could have been easier for us. That was why Fofana went straight for him immediately Como scored.
No comment on how Pulisic was kicked from behind and hit every time he got the ball! Then he was kicked as hard as the player can kick in the back the leg to hurt him! It’s sickening what I’m seeing from these Italians! Can’t beat him so they hurt him! Sad!!!!!
Honestly, after the inter game Pulisic needed to be rested, especially with the CL games coming up, the seasons is gone for sure so why risk him again on small teams after an injury and playing two full games back to back
It is a mistake to analyze this team individually. They do not play as a team. There is little movement and rarely are players receiving the ball as they are moving forward. This starts with the backline and midfielders. On the first pass out of the back to the sidelines there seems to be fear to make a pass back inside to a player in motion. It's not surprising that the forwards are not performing. At least when Morata goes back to receive the ball he turns to move the ball up the field. The problem then is he's not near the box. ACM play high school level football attacking.
This is a squad that wasn’t composed and intelligent enough to play in a block under Fonseca, and not fit and compact enough to play a dynamic man-to-man D under Pioli and now Conceição.
What is a common theme across the board, however, is how this squad enters the match and protecting leads.
Squad depth is lacking, for sure, but so is mentality and fitness.
P.S. You’re astonishingly right to call out Mike. Getting scored on the near post is uncivilized for a goalie of any calibre. Forza Milan!
GREAT NEWS EVERYONE! PULISIC AVOIDED A MUSCLE INJURY.
He must have over stretched it in that duel and thought he pulled a hamstring so he decided to end his day right there. I hope he doesn't play against Juventus and just gets the rest he needs. There could still be something but at the very least it isn't a big muscular injury
Well done Theo….but the game was different when maldini played defenders didn't really pass the half way line….so his 29 goals are like 100 really. And walker will be brilliant if we get him
How are you gonna say there was luck in Theo's goal vs merda? You don't shoot near post on a free kick in that position AND score on accident. That was completely calculated by Theo. Put some respect on his name
There was not , “too much load” put on Pulisic, he was just kicked aggressively hard in the calf by the opposing player. That had nothing to do with his fitness or training or playing time. That’s my take on it. Thanks for your video.

I'll post my most recent thoughts in this website, which I think has more intellectual members than other websites, like CBS Golazo. My comments will focus on developments and observations since Conceicao's arrival.
(1) Every player seems to readily pass without hesitation to any player who's open, even if that player may be a liability with the ball at his foot (such as Emerson, Calabria). This was not true when Fonseca or Pioli was the coach, as many players even avoided passing to Pulisic. I believe Conceicao must have made a speech emphasizing the important connection between attaining success and trusting each of your teammates just as you would want your teammates to trust you.
(2) Pulisic has been taken off corner kick duties, and the result is inconsistency in the quality of corner kicks. Was this done to save Pulisic unnecessary running to get back into position after the corner kick, particularly when he took corners from the left side? Yet, Conceicao has Theo kicking corners from the right side. I wonder what is Conceicao's thinking.
(3) Emerson is horrendous when he passes the ball, even with super short passes with no imminent pressure. Of course, this is in addition to his already well-known penchant for absolutely atrocious crosses from the right side!
(4) Reijnders had a poor spell during Pulisic's injury. Then Conceicao arrives (and Pulisic comes back) starting the Italian Super Cup game against Juventus and incorporates his system, which doesn't seem to give Reijnders as much room and/or doesn't give him the ball as much (I surmise it may be because Conceicao must have instructed his players to not hesitate to pass the ball to everyone). However, I have observed that Reijnders is making the adjustments and has gotten better in each of Conceicao's 4 games so far.

pulisic out for juve clash??

That was an abysmal performance imo. Nothing to root for.

Our next game is against Juventus. We don't have wingers. I am suggesting we play a 3-5-2 formation.

Why we bought emerson royal? Don't know what he was doing yesterday and still gets his name in top 5 of motm 😮
Came to get my answer btw

These cheap ass defenders are targeting him. Both times they kicked him in the back of the calf intentionally.

Italians are so shit, they fall back on kicking Pulisic every chance they get.

milan need to buy a real striker!
It was said he avoided injury. Scans revealed no muscle tear. So the kick probably just inflamed the area to much. Nasty play from the opponent side
Thankfully Pulisic’s injury was just fatigue. Hernandez is another story, unfortunately.

Emerson needs the confident boost lolol.
The one thing fonseca did well was orchestrating the set pieces, why did they go away from Pulisic taking corners since the firing ?
Kush should be more concerned about CP being hurt, doomed without him
