Interestingly enough, I celebrated my 30th birthday on the day this commercial aired, and hit my 10-year employment anniversary at Apple the very next day. However, my experiences have shown me that Apple does not seem to stand by their black employees who dare to voice out. Rather, we often experience backlash and intimidation for simply having the courage to highlight workplace issues. This commercial was broadcast while I was on leave, having reported continuous concerns about the treatment of employees of color. Even Tim Cook dismissed me as just "an angry customer." It's a stark contrast to see Apple supporting racial justice on the football field for product promotion, yet not extending the same support for equity in their own workplace. Having Bukayo as my first cousin makes the whole situation even more challenging to comprehend. – Déji Saka
