We got one of those bolt latches that are tricky even for adults to open. We put it right at the top of the door so only we can reach it and so it’s tall enough even if the kiddos try and climb on a chair first lol
Our 4th son somehow figured out how to open the garage door by using a broom or a mop or ANYTHING to press the button in the garage!! He was maybe 18 months old!! Thank god he was cute!!
A chain lock put high on the door would help with this lol We decided to install one just incase since our child can open doors on her own too. It looks like you already have a security system in place which I am sure lets you know if someone has opened the door.

We had to put a baby gate across our porch last summer because stinker #5 learned how to unlock the deadbolt. 🙄😊

Top lock. It will work until they are about 3 and can move chairs.
