When my Mother was in ICU and there was no longer any hope left, the doctor came to my Father and myself and he needed us to give consent to let her go. My father broke down and said he couldn’t say it, pulled my hand and I knew for the first time in my life I had to be the man of the family. Consenting to pulling the plug, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Saying the word, even when it’s the only thing to say, is still the hardest thing to say.
