What would sting even more than those two stingers you mentioned: Josh Sargent signing for Leeds/Burnley, getting relegated, and playing Norwich next season (assuming HMS PTL is docked for maintenance)
As an American and Leeds fan I would love to Josh move to Leeds. Most Leeds fans would hate it though. They don’t think he’s good enough and blame poor past Americans for all their woes. Despite McKinney tearing it up at Juventus and Adams crushing it at Bournemouth. I do appreciate Norwich though.
As an American, I have mixed feelings about Josh. He has all the attributes to be a good striker in a top 5 league, is a humble, hard working guy with an excellent "team first" attitude and has improved in every area of his game over the last 4 seasons… yet he hasn't performed all that well for our national team and has constantly battled injury issues. Personally, I think he's very similar in quality to the Mexican striker Raul Jimenez who has carved out a pretty decent career in the Prem so I don't see why Sargent couldn't follow suit. That being said, I definitely understand why he would be viewed as a gamble by the EPL clubs he is being linked with this transfer window given his injury history and poor performances in his first, and only, season in the English top flight.
20 million sounds reasonable until you see the teams that are in the championship and you see the money that is being spent these days and then you say that he's the best striker in the champ with 3 years left on his contract and Norwich want promotion. All of a sudden 20 million doesn't actually sound enough. We need to be more ambitious and keep him. He's a Norwich player on a contract with us and could fetch the same price next year
As a Leeds fan I assure as someone else mentioned we don't want Napoleon Dynamite the Norwich Ginga Ninja, please Norwich don't sell him to LEEDS..No disrespect to Red heads , Red head women run in my family I don't want Sargent as a bench option let alone our number 9.
I do feel that Sargent is a critical part of Norwich promotion hopes. I am hoping that recognition of his importance to the club’s future will prevail. Don’t sell him. Maybe wishful thinking. Hope not.
Imagine the fan fare if we got a striker with those credentials and talent for as little as £16M! We'd all be delighted… Just seems bonkers, hold onto him. Hopefully Sarge sees sense, has he ever visited Leeds or Burnley 😂
I can see any potential suiters for JS being concerned with his injuries and that will ultimately reflect in the price £16-£18 mil is realistic…I do agree that he warrents more but let's be real about this.

Leeds journalists have since confirmed multiple times that we won’t be in for Sergeant. It’s probably an old link, or possibly even a link as a contingency plan if Leeds stay in the championship

I know we are a self funding club but could it not be possible to keep Sargent and reinforce the strike force with another quality striker?
