Whoever we get in the playoff makes me nervous, especially with the home game first. I remember Artmedia Bratislava and although we won both games on aggregate against the kazakh teams, Astana and Karagandy, the away games were tough
The whole point of Rodgers coming back was to get Celtic playing better in the champions league squad, last season he said he’s building the squad and we’ve gone and sold our best players.. (not his fault) now we need a striker and right winger and the club won’t spend the money
Re: Japanese players (and Asian players in general) . . . for the record, the only Asian players who have managed to make it into the Celtic matchday squad on a regular basis are those who established themselves BEFORE Brendan Rodgers took over. None of the players who have arrived since – not even guys who Ange himself scouted and thought highly of – are seeing any real playing time. Even Yang seems marginalised lately.
When Celtic basically tossed Iwata to Chris Davies and said good riddance, theres been a decline in the reputation of the club in Japan. Many people think he will make it into the NT for the next World Cup cycle (For 2026, the team is already pretty well set), and were quite gobsmacked when he was unable to find a place even on BRs bench.
Im only saying this because Yamada and Inamura are promising guys at a key age, and theyve both basically been allowed to go to Scotland on the cheap (from the JLeague clubs' perspective) because Celtic have a reputation for cultivating players similar to Yamada and Inamura (Daizen and Reo were also university grads who were only just making a mark in Japan, when Celtic signed them). Ive mentioned to you before that I think both of these guys are quality. You just have to account for the fact that they didnt become pros until age 23! I honestly hope that the training regimes and tactical experience they get at Celtic will allow them to blossom in the same way that Maeda and Hatate did. . . .
But Maeda and Hatate were given Anges full support from day one. They went into the team as soon as they were ready (iirc Hatate needed some time), and they had the full trust of the coach. Im seriously worried that Yamada and Inamura are going to meet the same fate as Iwata: BR wont use them, theyll get loaned to Belgium or the Championship and the Board will take the first profitmaking offer tht comes in for them. Celtic fans wont ever see them play, and future Japanese youngsters will steer clear of a club with a reputation for not using the talent that it signs.
Will keep on about this as I feel its symptomatic of the malaise within Celtic at the moment…the Celtic women's team are being thrown under the bus ..no investment…amount of good players leaving…yet over at the Rangers they have agreed to play all their games at Ibrox…have a new manager Leanne Crichton who is one of the most respected…new players brought in…now I know lot of people don't prioritise the women's game but over the years the women's game is on the up n up, nationally and internationally..yet your podcast never mentions the women's game or even have a female on your podcast..you really must change and come into the 21st century🇵🇸🏴🇮🇪
