Keep your big guns for the EPL. If the lads crash out of any of these competitions, you have competition tested, match eager backups for your main act to press for a confident top 4 finish.
I would hate to endure a season where we get to quarter final of this, 2nd round of that and then finish 9th in the EPL just to land back at square zero for the upper season unable to attract star act and desperately clinging to whatever quality we have left.
There needs to be a solid plan for sustained progress following that taste of silverware
