The only mistake southgate made in EURO 2020 was he too defensive against italy in second half. When italy play with false 9, england should have revert to 4-3-3 earlier and use high pressing but southgate stick to 3-5-2 and let italy dominate the midfielder.
I still feel england current squad doesnt have playmaker, grealish now is a winger, mount is more of box to box, i think southgate should give james maddison a chance, he is far better than lingard. Should give TAA more chance ahead of walker, we need crossing from both shaw and TAA.

Kane's abilities to play link up play, create chances and score goals makes it easier to play with winger forwards like Greenwood, Sterling, Rashford and to some extent Saka, Grealish and Foden. This makes the 433 the better option for controlling games especially with midfielders like Bellingham, Henderson, Rice, Mount,Philips etc. A setup similar to Liverpool with offensive fullbacks, winger forwards and a tough midfield could help England progress and evolve into proper world cup contenders.

Yes, he has talked a lot of sense with what he says. he talks about formations to use etc and it makes sense what he is saying, but he has also missed the fundamental flaws that every and any England Team possesses and has done since 1968…No English Player can completely master, or understand every and any tactic given them and Southgate is useless. If you look at Nations such as France Belgium, even Germany and a few others, they can swap and chop tactics in the middle of games with ease and without missing a heartbeat and without having to bring on a Sub or two to do it. These Nations adapt to the game that is being played. NO England Team is able, or capable of doing that without getting themselves into a right state and falling apart. Not to mention Dave can talk about Guardiola, Mourinho and goodness knows what other top Manager, as far as tactics goes, what to play, how to play it etc. but lets face it, Southgate is not even fit to clean the shoes of Managers such as those and with Southgate floundering when things are going wrong and not having a clue, England have no chance. There is a reason why not many English Players are purchased by other top European Clubs, the reason being they cannot adapt to taking onboard many tactics at one time and they are just not good enough to play for a top European Club outside of England. many English Players have tried, but so few have ever succeeded, unless they have actually started in that European League. Which is another reason why no English Team, at this time, will ever be the owner of a European, or World Cup medal.

The best way to progress the team is to either stop being so risk averse and defensive or change the manager. Playing defenders as wingers is a fail. Playing a striker who won't play the role is a fail. Playing wingers who can't shoot or who have one poor season behind them (not Saka's fault, it was his breakthrough year) over those who are actually attack minded is a fail.

I think after how well the lads have done in the last two tournaments, first got to a semis, next the final and this year, well this year will be very exciting. Good luck to everyone involved at this World Cup, but for the third time I'm fully backing England all the way, just hope we can have someone as good as Pickford and Harry Kane needs to do more..oh and get Grealish on from the start
And in my short amount of time being a fan of football, and based on what I remember from England's history, 2022 World Cup will be our best chance at winning again, after this it'll be some time before we get this chance. I know it's old hope being kept alive, but those lads are the ones who brought it back after what they accomplished in the 2018 World Cup and 2020 Euros, I just hope they at least make it to the final, good luck can't wait bring it on!
