In the South American Qualifiers, Ecuador has only conceded 5 goals in 16 matches — and just 1 goal in the last 9, both home and away. The best def in the continent and perhaps the best in the world atm. Hincapié and Pacho (PSG), both left-footed, are our CBs.
On top his versatility, as you know, the lad’s only 6'0", but he’s a very aggressive defender who used to play as a No. 10 during his formative years, which is why he’s got such a wicked left foot. On top of that, he seems to have springs in his legs: against taller defenders/strikers, he can jump incredibly high and head the ball with clinical precision, whether it’s in clearances or scoring.
And that’s without even mentioning his madman South American attitude — defending like there’s no tomorrow.

Piero is an incredible player. The Ecuadorian is very good with his feet, reads the game well and should be able deal with the physicality of the PL eventually despite being only 1.8m tall. Crucially, he is a left-footed CB and is quite young. It is worth noting that Ecuador have the meanest defence in the South american qualifiers due to him and Pacho (PSG). A few years ago, he was part of the Golden Boy final shortlist too…if I were an Arsenal fan, I would be incredibly excited to see him flourish.
