  1. Favorite trade Douglas has made this year by far. This is a fantastic low-risk, high-reward contract that we acquired for a late 6th.

Also, I think you made a mistake with Shaq's cap hits; the Jets are set to pay him no more than $3.2m in 2021 if he hits every incentive or just $1m if he fails to do so, and they could cut him after one season for no dead cap.

  2. I just hope they made the effort to look at other DEs and not just went the cheap route. I can understand if they did look at others and they asked too much. But if he had the mind set of just a cheap fix. I will be pissed.

  3. As a 49ers fan, I'm surprised there hasn't been a trade between them and the Jets for DL already. The 49ers are currently loaded there with some new faces and also several old ones who played under Saleh.

  4. For a moment I thought this video may have been Matt pulled over on the side of a road out of Huntington. I agree it was for sure decent value.

  5. Great trade. #1 in value. Cost of a 6th. He knows the division, played in a 4-3 in Buffalo. He knows the job and is a young vet. At 27 if he plays well, blends in and adds leadership? He could be a great rotational piece for the next 3 years. Another building block.

  6. We lost 2 DE, they simply must be replace by 2 more. Depth isn't a discussion, but a necessity. The only discussion is the quality of the 2 replacing them. Shaq Lawson for a 6th is a bargain, is useful, but not someone the opposition will need to double team or focus on. It would have been great to get someone that would take the focus off of Q

  7. Compliments Bryce Huff well. Jets on the hook for 1 million in salary, the rest is performance based. The Jets have enough room to do other deals , buckle up. Shaq may give the Jets leverage in obtaining a second pass rusher, and getting way ahead of myself , leverage in the JFM Deal this winter. There is no guaranteed money left after this year, so this is a contract year for Lawson..Check out Jason at Over the Cap for this unique. Contract.

  8. Aaron Whitecotton is the Defensive Line Coach, was an assistant Defensive Line Coach under Saleh last year at SF. Aaron was also an assistant Line Coach in Buffalo in 2017-2018 , coached Shaq Lawson. There is a connection

  9. As I remember this guy used to play on the inside, like Quinnen Williams, when he has good success at Buffalo. MIAMI tried to experiment putting him at OLB and failed to increase his production Additionally, I think if I am right, he held out on Rex Ryan years ago and was involved in a nasty negotiation over an extension which eventually led to his being traded. Of course he was a star then. After they lost Marcel Darius they lost some of the same dominance on defense, and Lawson must have floundered.

  10. As Parcells would say, a hold the fort kinda player! He’s average, but better that doing nothing and JD is showing the willingness to try and move the needle!

  11. Well the Texans ate a chunk of that 3 year for $30 million contract that the dolphins signed him for. He is affordable this year for about $1.5 million, but next season is due about $9 million with two more void years in 2023 and 2024. So it’s a bit of a mess of a contract with the Texans eating a lot of dead cap just to move him. He couldn’t start in Buffalo and underwhelmed so much in Miami they traded him. Then the Texans traded him again only a few months later because he couldn’t crack their starting line up. As a depth guy he’s useful, but as a starter…

  12. Love how Douglas is picking on the Raiders, Bengals, Lions, and now the Texans. Don’t get players from Pittsburgh or the Pats who are overperformjng due to scheme and coaching.

Get underperformers from crap franchises, and have your staff coach them up.

We’ll see if the strategy works, but it’s clearly the plan with Joyner, Davis and both Lawsons.
