  1. He doesn’t go too far back and then really explodes through the ball with his power. It’s okay at his age but wonder if he’ll have to make changes when he gets older.

  2. Great video and glad you continue doing these swing analysis. I would like to see a video geared towards folks with limited mobility (hips, lower back, older age).

  3. Thanks for this..
I swing exactly like Rahm (well not exactly) lol

Weak wrist, short backswing, ton of lower body

Now I know what type of videos to watch

  4. Adam, your sand bucket drill is a great basis for what most great ball strikers have in common, connection and a constant radius. If you were to be consistent with your sand bucket example you would not be intentionally slotting it and creating an additional thought and motion while dropping your arms down and inside. The “ slotting” as you describe happens naturally as a bi product of his change of direction. That is what creates pressure on the shaft. Like most great ball strikers Jon begins his downswing before his backswing is totally at the top. This creates the kinetic energy on the shaft and the “lag” effect. It will happen naturally through physics and not a result of an independent disjointed motion. One less thought for golfers to be confused about and can create a disconnected swing if treated as an independent move.

  5. I realize this video is a few years old but it's worth mentioning for any new viewers that Jon Rahm has a short backswing from a club foot a birth that after it was fixed left him with a weak right ankle, thus a short backswing. Also his wrists have limited mobility, hence the grip position.

  6. The reason he doesn’t take the club further back is because, per Jon, his body doesn’t allow it. Not everyone has Dustin Johnson flexibility. Jon proves it’s not required to still be one of the best golfers in the world.

  7. Jon Rahm has as close to perfect an impact and follow through as you can get. That backswing gets him there.

  8. If you can rotate hard this flat laid off swing seems to be the way to go for me…im former college wrestler, a former gymnast, and am only 23…so I have a lot of flexibility and can rotate hard but later in life, I dint know

  9. I feel like his abbreviated backswing doesnt get enough attention. It's 3/4 at most. Prob more like 60% of an avg pros backswing.

  11. I have the same swing. I've tried stretching and coming up higher with the club but it just doesn't work for me.

  12. Been trying to figure out what pro has a similar swing to my son. My 40lb, 6 year old son can drive as far, pound for pound, as long as other kids that are bigger because of his tight little spring loaded compact swing. His swing looks like a more flexible miniature Rahm. lol 🥰😋 Cool video… 😎👌🏼🏌️‍♂️

  13. Jon's body doesn't allow him to swing the conventional way because he was born with a club foot and had multiple surgeries and his right leg is slightly shorter. The leg also atrophied due to having to wear a cast. So there you go. He is doing what his body allows him to do……

  14. My clubhead is always closed at the top of my backswing no matter what I do. Seems to be ingrained in me since started playing over 15 years ago. I tried a less strong (ie more neutral grip) and tucking in right elbow, etc, and still closed. Any advice?

  15. All I can say is wow. It's amazing how far pass his hands are at impact. If I tried to do that, the ball would be going right lol

  16. Im glad you didnt make the mistake most people make and come up with some strage theory about why he swings like he does…
His swing is like it is because he had medical problems from birth with his right leg/ankle and was in a cast for some time after birth so his right leg developed slower…his right leg is slightly shorter than his left and problems with his ankle mean it can't support a full swing…so his coach had him only go waist high on the backswing and then hit through as hard as he could in practice, so this is just how he swings now…
The bowed wrist at the top is just what feel comfortable to him as he has hyper flexibility in flexion vs less flexible in extension…👌
