Canada stunk today. A disallowed goal + 2 big saves saves by Canadian goalie, would have made the the game 6-1 Croatia. Lets here all the phony stories on how good Canada looked. Our Island team looked lost out there.!
Should retire shouldn’t of been called up. Had no creativity or influence vs 🇧🇪 or 🇭🇷. 🇨🇦 could of progressed had they had their solid Mid of youngsters creating opportunities
My honest opinion on what went wrong in the match involving Canada and Croacia : 1. marking lacked some bite – at various occasions Canadian players let Croatians receive the pass without an immediate challenge 2. Canada lost the midfield – and everybody knows the team who dominates what takes place in the midfield section of the pitch holds a better chance at winning the match 3. game awareness was a little off too – winning teams have to be aware of the fact that the other team will have to go on offensive, and award them counter attacks. Winning teams awarding their adversaries counter attacks is a clear sign of poor game awareness 4. the coach's theory that youth and speed will win any game was proven wrong (well, there's pure speculation here – I don't know if that was actually the way he sees things). Along with those there has to be good positioning, marking with a bite and more offensive quality I actually expected the Canadian team to play the way Japan and Costa Rica did when facing each other : each and every inch of the pitch becoming a hard fought battle – which is what lesser teams (in terms of talent) should do if they want to stay competitive. In general I think that Alphonso Davies and Buchannan did a pretty good job. All the other players did their best … yet it was clear that they were not World Cup level players. At least not yet (for some of them). Well… after all, this World Cup was a good reality check for Canada – back to the drawing board in order to build from the many lessons learned. Peace.
