Plus we have been down jakob vrana all year as well that would jave helped us won a few more games had he been healthy all year.. we are just now getting him back so i hope to see what more he can do on this team.. i was born and raised in Michigan and love all my hometown teams

The amount of coaches/front office staff who are former Wings is the biggest advantage. They know what it’s like to be in the player’s shoes

There are 3 options in the 2022 NHL draft for a potential second line center to play behind Larkin if they stay put at 9th or 10th if where they're currently at stands. Either Brad Lambert falls into their lap and help him realize his potential, look at a potential goal scoring center that can also play wing in Jonathan Lekkerimaki, or get a speedy dynamic center in Frank Nazar. Whoever the Red Wings end up with of the 3 would instantly solve the second line center conundrum and that means Veleno would go third line center to give a formidable top 3 center line for the Red Wings. As for the bottom defensive pair, Shai Buium could make a case to rotate in and out with Albert Johansson for that third left side defense spot to play with Gustav Lindstrom especially since Buium has been defensively sounded in his first season with Denver University
Man if the “busts” panned out for them yes like zadina and rasmussen and other plus with other prospects with Cossa Edversson and wallinder too then yes

I think they get a 2C through free agency. As a Wings fan, we have a TON of cap space. They need to make sure they keep the cash to lock up Seider and Raymond, but they could go out and get a center.
Stevie is building a dynasty. He is a great leader knows talent when he sees it.
I’m gonna say no. They need a top tier C still, I could see them taking a step back next year. Also IMO Ottawa has a better young core than LA and Detroit

The best thing Stevie Y has done for Hockeytown is putting the band back together. So many old faces from those 90s and 00s teams getting involved with scouting and player development or organizational management is huge. Success breeds success and guys like Yzerman, Lidstrom, Draper, Maltby, Kronwall, Cleary, Fischer…bringing back that level of experience, knowledge and a very successful history in Hockeytown is what this team has needed for a long time.
I feel like they need one more piece and like 2-3 years
Raymond and Seider are going to be scary good when they get a couple of seasons under their belts. But the wings need a goaltender that doesn't give up three or more goals a game.
So hard to tell this early. Will Detroit be one of the better teams years to come, yeah. Will all those picks turn into what they hope, no. There were a lot of future stars in Syracuse for Tampa, but a lot of duds too. Trades down the line will really show what they will be. Lot of these minor league players will be the trade to get those elite fill ins. The McDonaghs, Sergachev, Cernak. To fit in with the Points, Stamkos, and Kucherov and Vasilevskiy. Most of these guys will be canon fodder for trades. Yzerman will get it done, but dynasties are not guaranteed. Rangers, Devils, panthers and Red Wings will be the top teams the next 7 years.
Nhl is a league that punishes you for having good players. Building dynastys are impossible. Cap will catch you if you dare get to good
I was a huge fan of Bertuzzi, Larkin, Mantha, and Athanasiou when they were all coming up and out of those 4 we definitely decided to keep the right two players on the team to help lead this new generation of prospects of Edvinsson, Seider, Raymond and Bertuzzi and Larkin is still young!
Still have a lot of holes specifically in the bottom six and it’s yet to be seen if there will be prospects that step up and become players on the left side of the D. Also the need for a 2C is glaring. Definitely trending in the right direction but this team is far from a contender. Doesn’t help our 2015-2018 first round picks were spent on busts.
Detroit seems to like every other team some really good pieces. Until the NHL fixes the cap to even out Tax free teams like Tampa ..Florida…. and allows Canadian teams a extra few million for higher taxes. Detroit doesn't have a chance. Neither does Toronto..Edmonton etc etc.
My question is we know some big vets contacts are up this year like malkin and Bergeron do u think Detroit would sign one this off season if they hit free agent my and if so are they playoff contender now with that?? Fun to think about. Also I wouldn’t worry about the goalie situation you will prob sign a good goalie in a offseason.
LOL The Red Wings are 3 years away from being 3 years away. Every 1st rd pick from 2015 to 2018 was a bust. Sure Lucas Raymond and Morris Seider look good but every up and coming team has some good young pieces including LA Kings, Colorado, Ottawa, Montreal, Carolina, Anaheim, etc. Detroit is VERY far away from becoming a Dynasty. Where does this stuff come from? SMH
DYNASTY? Let's settle for playoffs first. We're a -48 team, 2 years away from playoff caliber: MAJOR upgrades in talent, speed and toughness are desperately needed. We are finally able to score enough goals but gotta work to keep 'em out. Ned needs some coaching to keep from over-committing and possibly an eye test to sharpen up his ability to find bad angle shots, We need a brutal animal like Radko Gudas to protect the smallish Vrana, Suter and Raymond and strike some fear into opposing teams, plus two more gritty defensemen. Hoping Edvinsson and Wallinder can fill those roles. The BIGGEST question mark to me is WILL CHRIS ILITCH SPEND ALL THE WAY TO THE CAP in order to lift the team's prospects? His dad would but Chris is much more aware of the bottom line.
I know this guy is talking big picture, but right now, in the past three or four games, they have been getting their asses handed to them. What has happened to the defense and the goalies? Florida, Toronto, and Phoenix scored upwards of 10 goals in their respective games against the Wings. And although Grise held Calgary to 3 goals in a 3 – 0 loss, the Flames outshot the Wings like about 2 million to 5. Grise did good to keep Calgary to 3 goals! How about some puck possession Wings? They're getting out worked.

I agree, Yzerman knows what he’s doing, what he did to Tampa is seriously impressive. And the team is shaping nicely. However… I don’t want to spoil all the fun but let’s put it like this “The London Symphony orchestra is a pretty solid bunch of musicians but if they’re conducted by Ace Ventura the results might still be pretty bad.” I don’t know if Jeff is our man but then again, I have no idea who would be better and I stick to trusting the yzerplan.

That second line was absolutely horrid. No way that line won’t contain varna, fabri, and or suter. We haven’t even seen Berggen play in the nhl I doubt he’s going to be a second line winger.
