R.A.N.T  A.L.E.R.T :Egyptian players are overrated in my opinion. The main reason they dominate the sport is due sheer number of them playing it. By having had competed in a competitive environment in the early stages of their career, they have a sizable advantage over players from other nations. Also the Egyptian government funnels a lot of money in the sport and their national players as well, more so than any other country. I mean 40%-45% of PSA tour comprises of Egyptians. Based on this fact alone, the odds of winning a major tournament are massively in their favor. And as for the narrative of how Egyptians changed / are changing the way the game is played. You know what changed the style of play from the yesteryears of squash in the early 80s and 90s to modern times, the most? From monotonous hitting up and down the wall to hitting nicks and drops from improbable positions of the court? It was the significant and ground-breaking improvement in racket technologies and the eventual lowering of the tin from 21’ to 17’ that facilitated this change. Jonathan Power was taking his opponents to the front of the court long before any Egyptian burst onto the scene. It would be impossible to hit the same kind of shots from the heavier, smaller frame-sized rackets of the 80s and early 90s. That is why it was the most viable strategy in squash to keep the opponent buried in the back by hitting clean good length and width and look to attack only when the opportunity presented itself in form of loose ball from the opponent. The change in style of the game was bound to happen. Due to ubiquity of players from Egypt, this change is attributed to them. Quite wrongly so. As I mentioned before, players like Jonathan Power, Rodney Martin and Jansher Khan had started exploring this strategy of attacking to the front of the court during their career which predates success of Egypt in squash. In my opinion, Ramy Ashour and Ali Farag are the only players from Egypt, that can be considered as innovators in the sport and can be said to have distinguish weapons and talents as squash players that can awe the audience and squash fans. Whereas the rest of the bunch (i.e Elshorbagys, Gawad, Shabana etc) can only be considered as quintessential modern squash players of the modern era that is playing a style of squash brought forth by change in equipment and court. Although that is not to say that they are not great players. They are brilliant squash players. But in the end not as good as Jahangir and Jansher Khan.

Good stuff here. Definitely agree about that no let, he was fishing for it there and could have easily just went for it without any contact or at most a minuscule amount.
