  1. Only Norman running sub 44 two times this year (43.60 and 43.56). James SB is around 44.1 and Gardiner SB is around 44.2.

  2. I want Norman to win no lie. People have been talking smack about him saying he doesn't perform at Champs.

    1. He was injured at 2019 worlds.
    2. He just had a bad championship in Tokyo.

I want to talk more about the 2nd point. Every athlete has had at least one bad major Champs.

    Bolt in 2017
    Felix in 2013
    Fraser Pryce in 2011
    Tyson Gay 2008

Norman is still young. He can still prove himself. If Wayde or Steven don't win, I'd like Norman to win to shut up all his haters.

  3. I'm a huuuuuge Wayde Van Niekerk fan, but I'm gonna try to be realistic. If you look at his 100m and 200m times from 2020 till now. You'll see that they are some of his best times ever.

Like his 200m straight in Boston last year. Ye he pulled up, but judging by how close he was to the eventual winner Jerome Blake. You see that Wayde is very close to his prime. In terms of speed at least, because Jerome ran 19.89 to win and Wayde's best time is 19.84.

He would've come very close to that had he not pulled up. He ran 10.10 in 2020, which is one of his fastest 100s ever. He ran 20.11 with a +2.1 tailwind last year. He ran 20.08 with a +1.8 around the same time in 2016.

I think Wayde is almost back. I believe he has his prime speed back, but not the strength. He's not even close strength wise, because a 400m guy like him with those 100m and 200m times should be running sub 44.

The best I see Wayde doing in Eugene is 44.2-44.3. If he runs any races at DLs or Continental Tours, I see him running 43.90 max. I think we'll see Wayde running sub 43.5 again, but maybe after 2 or 3 years.

I honestly hope he medals at Worlds, but that's a tall order. I want him to win, but bronze is the best he could do and even that's a huuuuuge stretch.

He will be back and someday. Just not this year

  4. What?! Kirani James. It’s between Norman and Gardiner and the winning time will be 43.4 or 43.3. Norman is looking the best, Champion might get a medal if he can replicate that 43.7.

  5. I'm rooting for Norman but very realistic about Gardiner's ability to peak for championships. Michael has tremendous talent and I hope he's able to do what we al know he's capable of. Gardiner, on the other hand, always seems to come in with less than stellar times but run well when it counts. I'm actually a fan of both athletes but I'm an American which is why I favor Norman. I also won't count out Ross or Allison as medal contenders. Champion finished ahead or Randolph at USAs, but Ross is very consistent. I wish all of these men the best of luck!

  6. Even though he is not the world leader. I feel like Gardiner is gonna be hard to beat. It seems like he never really runs extremely fast before major championships, and he paces himself really well during the rounds. Kirani James has been really consistent and I feel like he's really back in shape and won't leave without a medal. Don't get me wrong though, we can't ignore the man who has the two fastest times of the year.

  7. These are my picks provided that everyone stays healthy and on the same trajectory:

Gold: Michael Norman- Most improved as far as body/fitness and race strategy. As long as he doesn't overthink his races, he outruns everyone for the gold and a new PR.

Silver: Steven Gardiner- his last 4 years has been impeccable and he's very talented. He's going to press Norman all the way to the line.

Bronze: Kirani James- James has been good for a long time, and at 30, puts him in prime position to grab a medal.

Glass slipper falls off for the collegians. Van Nekirk is under-raced.

  8. My prediction for the final:

    1. Norman (wl) 43.4
    2. Allison (he's fast currently) 43.7
    3. Gardiner (world champion, and probably hasn't tried yet) 43.8
    4. Ross 44
    5. James 44
    6. Cherry 44.1
    7. Van Niekerk (wr holder) 44.2
    8. Hudson-Smith 44.3
    9. Dos Santos (if he runs) 44.4

  9. Van Nieker is back and also the American guys who ran 43.70 in us trials must not be counted out…… Nothing is given even for Gardiner…. I don't see James beating both Gardiner and Norman

  10. Norman has the potential but somehow fails at major events like we saw at the last Olympics. Gardiners more relaxed and is looking much better. I think he will take Gold. Van Niekerk unfortunately hasn't been selected by Team SA so cannot represent his country.

  11. Gardiner/James for 1st, Allison/Norman/Wade…in that order. Ross? Somehow I don't see fire in his eyes when I watch him run…maybe he'll surprise me 🤔

  12. This is gonna be one of the interesting race and keen to see what Gardiner and Norman can do.Kirani has also potential of being in the top 2.On the other hand,I pray that Wayde brings out his all and surprises us🫣.I wish he had stayed with Tanie.

  13. Steven Gardiner announced he unfortunately will not be competing at worlds due to tendon inflammation.
Who are your picks for the top 3 now?

  14. Now that Gardiner is out, if Norman gets it together he should be the winner but he tends to messes up at major championships. But let’s see.

  15. Please do a video on the women 100mh. (if you haven’t already) I personally think that’s one of the most anticipated races for the WC. And as always very unpredictable—but I think Alaysha Johnson might disrupt the party even tho Camacho Quinn is hard to beat and keni looks good this season;not to mention Brittany Anderson and Tobi. It’s going to be a cracker lol

  16. Too bad Steven Gardiner isn't running. WVN will shock people. That 44.5 was easy. He had another half a second in reserve. I see him running sub 44. Will it be enough to medal win, depends if Norman chokes, which he has done quite often once challenged. Kirani will be Kirani and the two collegiates will challenge. Cherry hasn't run so we do not know what he has on store for us. My picks:

    WVN
    Kirani
    Champion

Norman to choke (I want him to win but Asafa let me down too many times and Norman has done the same every single time).

  17. Judging from heats , it’s a Norman vs Wade Van . Wade hinted for a New World record. Wade is back … he’s not here to lose . I’d say 43. 45. If not 43.00
