as a cdm (defensive midfielder) when the centre back passes you the ball should you turn away from the pressurer (defender) behind you or pass straight back to the centre back because thiago alcantara turns away but kimmich passes straight back to the centre back usually?

I wish I can pass like him, I usually play CB but I naturally play CDM because I like go up and shoot because most of my shots are on target but I’ve always wanted to be a good passer too. Just like Kimmich. He’s underrated compared to Kroos and De Bruyne.
