I’m really worried about this season. I can’t work out what we are doing. Alvarez is actually one of the only midfielders we could still utilise. He is also one of the only sellable assets we have and so I understood trying to offload him in order to revamp the midfield. But loaning him surely isn’t the way to go? The midfield needs a complete overhaul and it’s just not going to happen now. Even if we do get a player or two in it won’t be enough and it won’t be thought out enough to have the impact we clearly need. Would any of out midfielders get in any other premier league side ? Paqueta maybe?
I feel like we are acting like a club that’s been relegated. Selling everything we have on the cheap and replacing it (or not) with sub standard players.
I also worry that we are half asked trying to create a ‘squad’ for Potter to play his style of football, but there is a good chance we won’t have potter at the helm in 3 months time! So what’s the point ?
Talking of his style, I’m yet to see it. I’m yet to see any shoots of promise or a pattern of play that might work long term for the club. I’ve seen a different formation but the same rubbish I’ve seen for the last 2 years.
I am dreading going over there tomorrow. I distinctly remember walking away after the drubbing last year early on by Chelsea. And I’m praying there is something positive in the background happening.

Something seriously wrong with buying and selling players. Sold Kudus to our biggest rivals for 30 million under the buyout clause. Now selling Alvarez if the loan works out for 22 million. Bought Kilman and Tobido for 75 million, wouldn’t get half of that back now. When you add the money wasted on Scamacca and Haller plus Anderson then we have pissed around 150- 200 million up the wall. Sullivan thinks he’s such a clever businessman, sadly he’s a deluded idiot.

For the first time I disagree with you. I guess you didn’t see the preseason. I myself got the chance to see them in NYC against Man Utd. That midfield was awful. The standout in that midfield was Paqueta and Potts. Guido too slow, doesn’t fit Premier League. Obviously Potter doesn’t rate Alvarez. If he’s not gonna be playing he has to do something and which he did. That first game with Sunderland was bad on the midfield again. Having Alavarez and Potts together would have been a better selection. You have someone you g that drive forward, and Alvarez has the heart, aggression which is good in the premier league. Mate this is West Ham we get link so much with players and doesn’t happen. I would rather have sold Guido then Alvarez.
