timing to sack walid now i awkward should have done week after the AFCON no two months after. It will be naive for morocco to assume ouahbi will make the same miracle as in last world cup
I really don't understand this.
He could have left after the world cup.
In fact his Morocco side were at their best when facing "bigger" teams and struggle against "smaller" teams.
And Walid's actual style works betyter against tougher opponents.
The Moroccan FA had to act because the atmosphere got intenable for Regragui, but they handled this transition in almost the worst way possible. While Regragui was excellent for the World Cup, his tactics have become predictable, and his track record with player selection has been inconsistent. My biggest concern is the timing and nature of Ouahbi's appointment. Bringing him in so late gives him no time to build rapport with the squad before the upcoming international break and giving him an interim title undermines his authority in a dressing room full of egos that had a deep, established connection with Regragui. On a positive note, Ouahbi is tactically excellent, he is much more versatile than Regragui and far better at utilizing substitutions.
Fortunately no foreign appointment was done. Sampaoli or Xavi would have been an absolute disaster.
