One thing I've started to understand since Emery's been here is signing young players with sell on potential is overrated, don't get me wrong one or 2 in the squad is ok as a project , but just look at Chelsea , young players haven't got the game experience and mentality to get you to where we wanna be. Emery likes players who are ready now and that players who are 26 onwards , not as much sell on value but if they provide the goods we will reap the rewards on the pitch which brings money in itself.
I don't think we need Wilson unless we exit Bailey. Would prefer to see us get Rowe, Senesi and secure Sancho (despite his mishaps last game) as he has so much unrealised potential that we can unlock over the next few seasons.
a lot of fulham players arent going to the wc which may help? i feel like a lot of other player's main concern above the club is staying fit for their nation. not going into those slide tackles, not stretching for that save. for the fulham players there's less reason to let up?
Anybody questioning the Wilson signing needs a head wobble after the season he has had l. He improves us massively over Bailey/Sancho at a fraction of their wages. He would be massive for us next season
Surely we've got to wait to see who's gonna be here next season and who's going to be sold plus we've still got more than a dozen loan players surely you've got to try some of them or you've got to let them go surely 1 our 2 could be introduced into the team or on the training days

I'm happy with the player but that isn't the best thing about this deal. Yes there are Diamondes, Andersons, Woltemades and Dumfries we'd all like to go out and get but we can't operate like that with the rules.
What I'm most stoked about is this is how you do a window in our position. Go out get the freebies that actually add to the squad early doors. Get Wilson, Senesi, Mingueza amd Doekhi and then see what that allows you sell and then asses where you're now able to spend on an elite player with a fuller squad and players sold.
Good work Villa. Wilson £100k pw is a pay rise for him, but less than Bailey earns. Bailey sold now as an example saves £45k pw and any transfer fee can be added to the pot for a LWer or STR or Defender or whatever.
I'm happy to see us operating like this. And on the player front he may not have another season like the one he's had but if we cam get half of that output it's better than what we have in thay position right now.

The wage is too high if true. This is where we get lumbered with the wage ratio which limits strengthening in other areas

This is why I think Marco Silva is an overrated manger, always finishing mid-table. Never won a trophy etc.
Wilson on a free would be a great signing. His wages won't be too crazy, and with Bailey moved on and Sancho heading back that frees up a lot of £
Don't know much about Wilson but many of our best signings have been frees, and I expect some of our most ageing players will leave in the summer.

Always liked Wilson. Would love to see him at Villa. But on a free he’d have a lot of options and might choose a club that can pay higher wages
