Why does he have to be better in build up? How many Center backs are better in build up and are still A+ at their primary position? Part of the reason Arsenal is an underdog to PSG is that we have too many versatile players and very few specialist. Specialist win matches and versatile players keep you competitive. Saliba is a Specialist and let's keep him that way.
I don’t care about this right now. I just want to win the league. I have been waiting over 20 years. All this awards stuff is icing for a cake we don’t have.

Rice, Gabi, Saliba and Raya should all be nominated imo, but there’s a case to say Saliba deserves it the most of the four. Hasn’t had a dip all year.
Big Gabby has been even better. Id rate Big gabby in my top3 cbs ive seen at arsenal (since 1990), id say Saliba 5th, but with a long career still ahead of him to progress
Even Willow was putting Big Gabi ahead of him earlier this season. Gabi been a monster! Before anyone bar maybe Rice/Raya, Gabi should be on that list.

He’s ok 1v1 I’ll give him that and he’s kinda fast. But he’s not even our top 3 best defenders
He’s not good with ball at feet. He can’t cross or make progressive passing. He loses arial duels or second balls to anyone remotely strong.
And he’s not that great at attacking corners offensively or defensively.

Saliba makes it effortless and Gabriel puts efforts which grabs attention more
If you watch arsenal without saliba we struggle but if you watch arsenal without Gabriel we don't struggle much like Madrid last year
