I think the frustration comes from watching how we were playing at 0-0… as if the players were happy with a draw against the USA. After the match, Kane called it a ‘decent’ result. Is it too much to ask for a team that will stop at nothing to win?

I would have booed. It was god damn awful. It was like there was a force field on the halfway line that our defence get across, but when USA had the ball in defence within seconds they were across the halfway line and many times within about 20 seconds were in our box taking a shot on our goal. It was embarrassing.

He is far too defensive, cautious, as soon as we play a team that is not considered a minnow, he shits himself and goes on the defensive, just look at the euro final, the worst thing we did was score early, because we just went defensive mode which is not our English game, you score one, you go get another, and then another, we can't rely on leaving it to penalties

I think the issue lies at the fact that we assume England will play at a similar tempo to the premier league but international football is a different animal. Defensive teams do generally go far and the stats prove that.
I personally think Southgate takes this philosophy to another level but it’s true nonetheless.
I don't think there's a set of fans in the world who are the least supportive of their own team than England. It's ingrained in the culture at this point. Bloke's got you playing conservative, pragmatic football and got you to a World Cup Semi Final and the Final of the Euros – in which you didn't lose a single game in 120 minutes. You're in control of games and are resolute and tough as well as creative and dangerous. Get behind your team and manager ffs. No country has a divine right to win a game, and the way England neutered a very dangerous USA team was commendable. The Welsh did very well to scramble a point against them. The USA are no mugs.
