  1. I know it’s kind of far out but if you had to guess right now, assuming we make the World Cup. How many MLS players does Greg take with him?

  2. Pepi could play some minutes for the US in the next 3 games and still not be cap tied. However, switching to play for Mexico would require Pepi to wait 3 years, which puts Pepi at over 21-years-old. As per FIFA rules, switching countries can only occur before the player's 21st birthday.
So, Pepi is essentially a US player…. is this correct?

  3. if you play in a world cup qualifier, you are cap-tied – age doesn't matter – friendlies and u23 teams are different, you can switch – but not after a senior competitive match

  4. I'll talk about the selections in one second. What scares me most is that GGG will be our coach after this WC cycle. He's going to win games not with his coaching, but with talent. In soccer terms, we are in a weak region, so our weaknesses are not exposed on a game-by-game basis. We essentially out talent everyone with the exception of Mexico where we still haven't figured out their press.

Regarding the selections. Yeah, what is up with this guy? I've never seen a coach not recognize all the talent he has at his disposal. So instead of bringing in Roldan could he have not brought in de la Torre, Green, Williamson, etc. These guys provide so much more than Roldan and even Becky G. If GGG has Reyna and/or Aaronson stay as forwards, then we no creativity in the midfield. So many other guys he could have tried out. And Richards! Richards is our future CB with little question as I see it. For god sakes he was a starting CB in the freakin' Bundesliga. But apparently old ass Ream in the Championship is more deserving of a call. It's almost like GGG is trying to prove a point. I have favorites and they deserve playing time over better options.

  5. My opinion is that there is obviously a MLS backed agenda with the national team. It's frustrating to see these MLS players get favored so easily over the Europe base players.

  6. Politics Politics Politics!!! Just take the best squad. This is a solid squad but not the best in my opinion. Greg has a loyalty to MLS because he played and coached in the league. it reminds me a bit of 2002 team and coach to an extent.

  7. Well said. The roster is about what we all expected. We knew there would be some inclusions that were lame, and some exclusions that were disappointing. But overall the starting squad will be who we expect.

Shame about Richards and Hoppe though.

Edit: Oh! And hurray for Pepi! Super stoked for the potential he brings. Superstar potential.

  8. Seems likely Hoppe and Richards make club moves in the next few days. Letting them focus on that is probably the right call in the long run.

  9. It’s not the premier league that causes; the issue. Its England saying if they go to a red listed country they will not be allowed to re-enter England. This forces them to miss some club matches. Some of the Central American countries are very close to being red listed.

  10. I'll love to see a 4-2-3-1 formation eventually with Tyler Adams & Gianluca Busio playing together in that defensive midfield position. 💥

  11. As long as MLS has the ear of the USSF they will bring in MLS players, at this point unless he is a top tier striker leader in goals… We have plenty of players to build a roster from Europe with no MLS players…

  12. Honestly I’m surprised your more impressed with Tim Ream than you are with Zimmerman, Ream was the weak link in the NL Mexico game and Zimmerman played well up until he got injured in gold cup. Tim ream in all accounts should have been dropped for Chris Richards not Zimmerman

  13. I don't care what Chris Richards' ceiling is. I see this time and time again with USMNT commentary. The USMNT should not be in the business of developing players. "We already know what this guy is" is an asset, not a liability.

Richards will get this chance, but ceiling means absolutely nothing to a game we need to win this week. He'll probably be a stalwart for us for a decade, but he's not that guy right now.

USMNT fans seem to have this notion that whatever a player's potential is, that he is that guy right now. That's not the case. It's a different sport, but look at Bradley Beal's age-20 season vs. his age-27 season. Not the same guy – at all. Reliability matters. "Ceiling" doesn't win games.

  14. Players that shouldn’t be here: ream, lletget, and roldan.
Players that were snubbed: green, de la torre, and Richards. And I understand that the argument could be because he’s not playing for bayern, but the thing is last season richards was playing with hoffenheim for almost every single game until he got that injury, and in almost every single game he was very solid for hoffenheim, but the way I see berhalter chooses his players is by form, which is dumb because Zimmerman is barely coming back from injury but still called him up instead of Richards 🤨 but I’m hoping to see Chris having minutes by October so he could be back with the national team.

  15. Lol dude you talked about how Zimmerman was not good enough to get called up like you have personal issues with Zimmerman, he’s decent bro
