I’m sorry but the reason he left was that he wasn’t good enough… seems a nice enough dude but the fact is every time he played he made some stupid defensive error and cost us goals

Erm he LEFT because he was out of favour at Spurs barely played in that last year and had the opportunity to join Bayern Munich. Everyone knows that !

I always felt Eric Dier tried his best at Spurs, cared about the club and protected his teammates when felt needed like at the Battle of the Bridge vs Chelsea. Also the night he ran up the stand to help his younger brother out. There where so many matches where he would be almost perfect for the 95% of the match but a mistake would happen because he had emptied his tank causing a slip of concentration or just pure bad Spursy luck and he would be hounded for days for that one thing by fans, shadowing his whole performance and tainting future performances by the now toxic fan made lack of self confidence.

Sadly it’s becoming more and more common to see English fans change from being super supportive by travelling far to away games and singing positives songs about a player they idolize to becoming bitter, mean spirited and in worst cases cyber bullying the same exact player the next day after a bad result. I know the money is a huge part of it, because of the salaries skyrocketting you (as a hard working person) feel you have the right to knock them off their pedestal. As an Icelander I saw that exactly happen after England shockingly lost to us at the 2016 Euro’s. I felt so bad for the English team since A) The teams coach and assistant coaches had no idea what they were doing and underrated the Icelandic team in many ways for example letting Kane take the corners, not tactically scouting our set pieces (both goals came that way) and skipping the short pre-match practice for a walk in the park. You can still see on youtube the look on Gary Neville’s (ass. coach) face when he finds out England’s facing Iceland. B) The team itself was way too old. More than half of the team players shouldn’t have been playing; Rooney, Wilshire, Rose, Hart, Cahill, Milner and Sturridge all retired not only from the national team but completely from football in the next 1-2 years. So I believe England would have lost to almost any team that night.

Sadly Dier was not only part of that tainted squad but a starting player. His second blow came not long after when Pochettino, his mentor, left which increased his performance instability with all the different managers coming in and out. His versatility (which you would think was a positive thing to have as a player) also hurt him as it often does to player gifted with the ability of playing in a more than one position. Some managers played him as a defensive midfielder while others saw him only as a center back. He even started his Spurs career as a right back, scoring in his derby against West Ham and his career looked so bright.

Coz u weren't getting much game time and couldn't believe your luck. Yeah, we know.

He was a top character, a defensive all-rounder that was efficient and knows how to remain calm….he also knows how to initiate a long counter pass. He fits perfectly to a team like Monaco….or a team like VfB Stuttgart as central defender. He shouldn't just be a bench player…for him it was great to experience FC Bayern München. Most never get to wear the greatest German football jersey…

He was so awful for Spurs. He cost us many trophies during Poch era. I will never forgive him for most of his terrible performances. He should have left Tottenham along time ago. He was the one player who stayed at the club the longest and was nothing but just deadwood that we could never get rid of and if we replaced with better quality we most likely would have won a lot during Pochs time

A decent player for Spurs but would get exposed with some limitations… had his best performances playing the shield at DM or playing in between Jan & Toby in back 3…
