Jonatan Berggren should be a full-time Detroit Red Wing player at the start of next season in my mind. He has nothing left to prove in G.R. As long as he's able transfer his production level to the NHL he has no business to still be in G.R. he's paid his dues! If Berggren is playing in the top 6 next season. I could see him producing around 55 points in 80 games.
Not sure how you're not hearing about our hype for him, Yzerman mentioned in an interview that he's been doing so well that he deserves a late season call up, but Stevie chose to let him sit in GR to help them in their AHL playoff push. There will be plenty more to talk about come training camp. Hoping he can put up numbers not too far short of Raymond's rookie season.

Two reasons Berggren is under hyped… Holland and 2018. Zadina hasn't scored at the NHL level. Veleno has struggled to claw his way into the lineup. Bringing up Pulkkanen… Kind of making my point. Then there was Yzerman and Seider, and Raymond, and people here are kind of like…. Expect great things from Yzerman and if Holland accidentally found a gold nugget in the pile of dog poop that was his drafting…. Cool.
Trust me lego he is not underated when it comes to red wings fans a lot of my buddies and I expect him to at least make it from training camp for the 1st couple NHL games next season hes that good hes that hyped for fans and fans look forward to seeing him setting up goals for Larkin and Raymond
I've definitely not overlooked Berggren and his achievements this season. I think the expectation from Wings fans is that he's a Detroit player next season – now whether that is the case is another matter, it could be that he starts in Grand Rapids and is the first call up, but with Cross Hanas and Elmer Soderblom likely there anyway, I see no reason why he shouldn't be in Detroit. Steve Y has some interesting roster decisions to make this summer, especially with Gagner, Stephens and Rowney. I think Berggren will get his chance and I can't wait to see him go!
I really do think Bergrenn will play full time in the NHL next season. Another year in GR really doesn't seem necessary at this point.
Not really sure he's underrated
I got to see Jonathan Bergen play in Grand rapids. On a team with limited talent he was definitely The shining Star. I definitely noticed him getting better and better at reading plays. His shooting improved dramatically throughout the season. He went from missing the net and a lot of his good chances to hitting the net more often than not. His Puck handling skills are slowly improving. As far as on the defensive end he's definitely still trying to figure that out. However when the Griffin's had control of the puck you always seem to know exactly what to do. I really feel like we haven't seen anywhere near the best of the Jonathan yet.
DRW scouting/signings have been completely ABSENT when it comes to North American players. Other than Cossa, no top prospects are US/Canadian and that pipeline is looking pretty bare. Kris Draper, what gives?
I've never lost interest in Berggy. Dude has potential to be a star, he's already better than probably half of the players currently on the Red Wings.
I can't start really speaking on expectations for a season until that season. With Raymond and Seider for this year, it was play in the top 6/top 4. I can't say it would be the same for Berggren, but I try not to have a points expectation and, thanks to years of Ken Holland, I set my expectations low. So I'm hard to disappoint 😂

Detroit’s future is bright. My high school classmate ( Mike Knuble, East Kentwood legend ) is one of the coaches for the Griffins. And he actually played a few games for the Griffin’s before retiring from the NHL. Maybe one day, he’ll be coaching the Redwings. LGRW
My expectations are for him to at minimum be a third line forward to start with time on the second power play unit, hopefully get a nice 30 points I wouldn't mind that
A lot of us have been watching Bergy all season. We love him.
Basically a point per game in the AHL should be good enough offense to at least merit a few NHL games, if his defense is acceptable. But -18 is a bad stat.
I know that plus/minus doesn't tell the full story, and there are any number of peculiarities which can make it seem better or worse than the player's actual play. But what is the overall status of his 200-foot game? Does he need more time in Grand Rapids to work on it, or is he defensively good enough for an NHL level tryout? That's my only question.

I think its good for prospects to go under the radar for a bit. I think guys like Jesse Puljujärvi and Kaapo Kakko would have benefitted a lot from being able to just kind of vanish for a bit, be good players but not under the spotlight all the time, and just have time to develop.
The Wings have so many prospects that some of these guys will not pan out but even if only the average amount do the Wings still hav a lot of guys to look forward to, and if slightly more than average pan out (which looks likely) then they will have a great roster in a few years.

Could be wrong, but unless he’s getting bored of ahl I’d keep him there to continue to develop and work on dominating. He has the scoring knack, but the time, space, and opportunities he’s getting in ahl will not be there at the nhl level. He needs another year developing the nhl skills, board battling, creating opportunities off of forecheck etc.
Just a update for you Lego, This video aged very well in the short period of time. Berggern has looked great in pre season, ive got to watch a few games live and at times he looks like the smartest player on the ice. Such a finesse player and very little players see the ice like he does.
