I remember, in particular , they used to score the odd goal ,from from a free kick while the other teams defence , were trying to get ready for the said free kick, and I think referees used to allow it , because it was cheeky but clever.
I agree you need a dog o' war in midfield and we have not got one. You measure a striker by goals/assists for sure but it is a nice attribute for other positional players to have!
I know what he did to Kamara last season was bad …but we need to think on and he'd be a fantastic signing for us another ball winner and can help swap the midfield around more UTV 💜🩵

I remember the '94 League Cup Final against Man Utd…. Paul McGrath gave Cantona 2 elbows in the ribs in the 1st 3 minutes and United were effectively playing with 10 men for 87 mins lol. I totally understand what you're saying about all top teams having at least 1 player with that little nasty streak. The Leeds team of Don Revie had 11 of them. Liverpool in the late 70's and early 80's had Greame Souness. Man Utd of mid 90's had Roy Keane and Paul Scholes. Palhinha would definitely be an asset in Villa's midfield 🙂 UTV

I think with these midfield options we'd definitely be more dynamic. But I think you'd want a proper number 10 type (eg Bruno Fernandes, James Maddison type). Not sure who that is but think it would be important.
