1:56 Kimi Raikkonen used a loophole in the track limits at turn 1. By running off wide he had the car balanced sooner to be able to floor it quicker before eau rouge and to pass on the straight. It had nothing to do with the KERS system wich did nothing but add additional weight to the car with minimum benefits. Also the KERS system recovers kinetic energy and not heat as stated in the video.
Turbocompressor was invented around 1900 by Louis Renault. It wasn't introduced by F1. It was well-known for Diesel trucks, trains and industry. After the 2nd world war, that technology got reliable a lot and came in F1 AND in Group B Rallye cars !

The worse F1 competitive period in my lifetime, all the other drivers careers stalled, simply irresponsible of F1, it was not Mercedes superiority but rather the strict rules that left other teams stranded. Even now, I don’t want red Bull to win every race, its insulting to other teams and drivers. The sport is about innovation, not stifling competition with rules. LeClerc, Sainz Norris Bottas, and many more youngsters, time to occupy that podium with Max and George and Checo.

Turbos don’t work from recovering heat energy from exhaust gasses but from its kinetic energy…
